  • Overview

    The purpose of this Communication and Training Unit (CTU) position is to research, develop, and deliver training to adult learners, while following established agency and departmental guidelines. The position will work with  management and field staff to identify the training needs and deliver courses both centrally and at individual local offices. In addition, the position will be responsible for guaranteeing training development projects adhere to established timelines and style and formatting standards set forth by the unit.


    • Design and produce curricula, illustrations, charts, graphs, PowerPoint presentations, exercises, roleplays, scripts, models, training aids, and technical manuals, as assigned.
    • Develop clear, measurable training objectives for curricula.
    • Review existing or draft materials for compliance with style guides and grammar rules.
    • Provide content expertise, through research and experience, on identified topics.
    • Follow CTU/CSB established style standards in documents, presentations, and training materials.
    • Follow established curriculum, arrive on time for all classes with needed material and resources, and provide quality training.
    • Assist and/or train at regional training centers several times per month, with possible overnights (25-50% expected)
    • Provide logistical support, as needed, for regional training centers, including setting up and testing student laptops, software, and projectors.
    • Traveling between offices is required.
    • Employee will be asked to do occasional lifting for training setup.
    • Position requires the ability to stand for long periods for training.
    • Other related duties, as assigned.



    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Accepts feedback and follows direction well.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strict attention to detail.
    • Ability to convey written and/or technical information in a clear, concise manner.
    • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
    • Ability to setup computers and training equipment, including projectors.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new information quickly and independently.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing requirements, and work under
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
    • Ability to do occassional lifting for training setup
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time


    • College degree with experience in education, writing, communication, journalism, public
      administration, sociology, or related field.
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Previous experience in course or training development, including writing curricula.
    • Experience in teaching or training.
    • Knowledge of Title IV-D Child Support Program.
    • Experience with learning management systems (LMS).
